Do We Make Money For A Living Or Does Money Make Us Do Whatever It Takes For Living?
Many, most probably, of us never thought of our life being the way it is. The desire to gain money has formed the life we are living, and trapped us with the hope that one day we will have enough, but the truth is, it will never happen. If money were not an obstacle how would you be living your life? What could you have done instead of going to the job that you hate?
We all have our own idea of the good life, but the idea is not to be working hard for a job that you have no interest in, and the only reason you are doing it is because you need the money to survive. Many spend the money they worked so hard for on things that they don’t like or want and have no interest in them. The question is, are we wasting our lives to earn money? Don’t you wish that you could have followed your dreams of what you really wanted to do in life instead of what you are doing right now, only because you need money?
Many young adults, after finishing their education, are eager to do more with their lives, either continue to study or follow their dreams, to be a better and happier person, do things they enjoy doing, but many of them are forced to work a job they have no interest in.
Do you believe that it’s better to have a short life doing what you love doing, rather than a long life doing something you hate? Of course you do! But can we do something about it? It’s almost like we’re trapped in a box and have no escape. We just can’t get out of the situation, and this is what life is about. We are often told that this is life, this is how it works, how it should be working. You and your children, and their children, and more generations to come are going to live like this, just as past generations did. Maybe only a few people get the chance to live their lives doing what they love, but what about rest of us?
Alan Watts was a British-born philosopher, writer, and speaker. One of his lectures was, “What if money were no object?” he wanted to know if money was no object, “What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like?” He asks questions we never really thought about in life, he made many people think about what they are doing with their lives, realize what they want to do with it, and make the best of it.
