Michelle Obama’s Spotify Playlist Might Surprise You!
The President of the United States is almost always under a load of scrutiny, his each and every move being picked and prodded at for even the slightest hint of a so-called gaffe that can give his political opponents some headway. It’s an odd situation in this social media generation where we want everyone, including our President, to be more socially connected to ordinary, everyday people. Fortunately, that social ideal has won out over the fear of being politically vulnerable as both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are accessible on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. And in a very cool move, even their Spotify playlists are now available.

While the President’s playlist was released months ago – home to such hits as Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones and Memories Live by Talib Kweli – Michelle Obama’s Spotify playlist was just recently made available to celebrate the International Day of the Girl. This day was designated by the United Nations to promote the awareness of gender inequality still ever-present in the international community. Michelle Obama is, at the same time, promoting her “Let Girls Learn” campaign. “Let Girls Learn” is aimed at pushing the education of girls in communities that have historically discouraged or even denied education to their female populations.
The First Lady’s playlist, accordingly, features powerful tunes from the most renowned female artists of our times like Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys, Survivor by Destiny’s Child, No Scrubs by TLC and recent Billboard smash Bang Bang by Ariana Grande, Jessie J. and Nicki Minaj. It is definitely a primetime list promoting girl power. Check out the full playlist:
