What does life mean for a single woman with no children who is about to turn 40? Do you embrace it or become bitter? Some say you don’t start really living until you turn 40. And some say that’s when you make plans to travel the world.
What about dating? Men in my age group are choosing younger women. Does that mean you start dating younger men? Most women won’t admit this but I find myself becoming afraid of being alone. Even though women are having children later in life, how much longer will it take to meet the man of my dreams? Will he even want children if he’s in his 40s? And what age would that put me at?
Since I can remember I pictured myself married with children, driving to soccer games and making cupcakes for the PTA. I could see my husband coming home from a hard days work with a wonderful dinner waiting on him. And of course, taking family vacations with our cute little white dog.
So what do I do now? Do I throw myself into the gym because I’m scared that I’ll have to compete with younger women? Or will I become the new aged super woman who’s dating her career? Or do I go buck wild and do all the things I was too busy or too afraid to do? How do I accept being 40? ~ Anonymous
