A subject that is oftentimes silenced, shunned, and tiptoed around more than any other conversation piece is racism. From the days of slavery up to the present 21st century, even in light of a black president, one would think that we as a maturing society, would have further progressed from judging a man or woman by the color of his or her skin to judging them by the content of character.
An article appearing on the Huffingtonpost entitled, “15 Charts That Prove We’re Far From Post-Racial,” lists fifteen facts revealing we’re not over racism. Some of these facts include disparity in wealth, school segregation, drug usage, imprisonment, and employment.
As it has been said, we have a come a long way, but still there is a long way to go. The challenge of overcoming prejudice does not begin with the condition of a society, but with the condition of the heart and a simple experiment.
